How Does Colour Affect Our Lives
Colours affect everything we do and feel, from the moment we wake up, until we sleep, even in our dreams. If you did not realize this, then here are some simple examples to help you. When was the last time you ever walked into a hospital or funeral parlour, and they were decorated in black or red! Or when was the last time you drove thru a red light, or stopped when you hit a green one? We tend to get annoyed at the red light and are pleased when the red is changed to green.
Once we understand why we react to colours, which represent our own emotions we can start changing our colours around us to untimely, make sure we are always happy and content. In this article I will give you many examples as to how you can change your life without much effort.
Can it really?
Well yes it can, technically, if we move everything from our lives that make us sad and ill, then logic dictates we are left with only the things that we are happy with.
Let us start with the history of colour, from the Israelites, and the colours of the 12 tribes, to native Indians to Aborigines, to Africans to the Egyptians, to the Asian cultures to the Victorians who studied colour and light. To modern day candle burnings, and the colour clothes we wear that day, and the month we were born in, to the dreams we have. Or what colours our sport teams wear.
It is highly significant that in everyday conversation we frequently use colours to describe our feelings – ‘ I’m in the pink’, ‘I’m feeling blue’, ‘I saw red’, ‘I turned white with fear’, ‘Was green with envy’, ‘In a black mood’, ‘Am off colour today’.
The ancient Egyptians had colour halls in their temples where their re-search into colour and healing was carried out. Today the importance of colour is now being recognised by the medical and scientific communities. There are many ways in which the vibrational energy of different colours can bring about a change in our moods and way of life.
In India it has long been thought therapeutic to expose drinking water to sunlight filtered through glass of different colours. The water becomes charged or solarised with the energies and properties of the colour selected, then, drunk by the patient. Red yellow or orange is said to give you energy and is good for blood, liver, kidneys and pancreas. It is also said it can help you lose weight. Blue, green or violet is said to be soothing to nerves, skin complaints, and helps you put on weight, can be good for bruising or swelling. A clear bottle can help you stay younger!
Healers believe the body has energy centres called Chakras.
Red Chakra. (Root) Situated at base of the spine.
Orange Chakra. Sacral. Located in the digestive and reproductive area.
Yellow Chakra. Solar plexus area.
Green Chakra. Heart area.
Blue Chakra. Throat area.
