If a girl takes 5 bay leaves and place 4 of them at each corner of her bed, with the 5^th one in the middle she should dream of her future partner.

Four leaf clovers are said to be a lucky find. There is an old rhyme that goes like this:

One leaf for fame and two for wealth

The third shall bring you splendid health;

The forth will bring you all of these, plus a faithful lover

This is the luck of the four leaved clover.

If a male blackbird stays in your garden for a few days, it means someone is going to move away from the home.

It is said to be unlucky to burn the wood of an Elder tree.

Hazel wood is said to be unlucky if you keep it in the house, it is good however to find underground water lines, as it will magnetically pull towards the ground if you hold it over a water supply.

Don’t bring May blossom into the house, especially in the month of May as it is said you could break up with your partner before the year is up.

We all know about Mistletoe at Xmas, it derives from the Winter Solstice and the Druids celebration of the sun being reborn again and thus moving back towards the sun again, bringing new life to all. Mistletoe has recently been found to be a very powerful plant medicinally some say it could be a cure for some cancers. If you put a piece of the plant you have left over after Xmas in a corner of each room in the house it is said to bring good luck to the home. If you hang a piece over your bed it is said to keep away nightmares.

If you put a wreath of Myrtle leaves on your roof top it is supposed to stop the house from being struck by lightning, personally I would suggest not trying this one out to test it, it seems very unsafe to me !

Rowan is also known as Mountain Ash, or Witch-wood, it is said not to sit around a fire with this wood burning next to friends, or they won’t be your friends for much longer.

Nine Holly leaves plucked and tied into a handkerchief with 7 knots then placed under your pillow is said to help you find your true partner.

February 8^th – 10^th, are usually colder than other days in that month.

April 11^th – 14^th, 9^th – 14^th May, and the 30^th June – 4^th July are also colder days than the rest of those months.

July 12^th – 15^th, are generally hot.

August 1^st – 8^th, are usually wet.

August 6^th – 12^th, are usually colder.

The last few days of September are generally fine.

October 18^th, is usually mild.

November 6^th – 10^th, are very cold.

December 3^rd – 8^th, are usually mild.
