Reflexology
Reflexology, because, People love having their hands and feet massaged.
The theory of reflexology is similar to that of acupuncture, which is, that vital energy sources are said to flow along path ways, through the body which corresponds to the nervous system. These energy paths then connect to all other major organs and glands, and cumulate in points in the feet and hands, rather like a bit map of the whole body.
Poor circulation, tension, ill health, lack of exercise and poor fitting shoes, can lead to a formation of tiny crystals which build up at these points thus stopping the energy flow, rather like the crud that forms around a battery terminal.
In acupuncture needles are inserted into the blockage which releases natural oils, which then stops the crystals touching vital energy points, again similar to applying Vaseline onto your car battery terminals. With reflexology, however, fingers and thumbs are used instead of needles, and are pressed on the tender part, of the hands and feet, then gently releasing the pressure, repeating this action 5 or 6 times until the spot being pumped, no longer, feels tender. Areas that are tender when pressed indicate a build up of these crystals.
There is evidence that the ancient Jewish Essineee tribes, who were known to be amazing healers and teachers of their time, setting up hospitals and schools where they were needed, practised reflexology. Some non theologian scholars, who have studied the Dead Sea Scrolls, think that Jesus was an Essencee. It was then, later, practised by the ancient Egyptians.
Modern reflexology derives from an American Doctor, William Fitz-Gerald, who in the 1920’s found he was able to anesthetize parts of the body by applying pressure to certain other areas of the patient’s body, especially the feet and hands.
The reflexology technique of treatment involves massaging the feet or hands by moving the fingers and thumbs in a circular direction, on the sole of the foot, or palms of the hand. This helps to break up the crystal formations, bringing a relief in tension which in turn brings relaxation. The left hand and foot corresponds to the right side of the body, while the right hand and foot corresponds to the left. Personally, after 40 years of practicing reflexology, I have found different energy flows for each person.
On your foot the top part between the toe joints represent the neck, and the sides, represents the ears. The big toe is the head and brain. While the middle part of the foot or hand is the lungs, heart liver, spleen and pancreas. Slightly lower down is the digestive system and intestines, lower than that towards the heel, is the bowels and reproductive organs.
Reflexology can have important physical benefits.
