Signs From Nature

How to Read the Signs from Nature around You

There are many ways you can read nature’s signs around you. For instance if you want to tell if the weather will be dry or wet a few days ahead, then keep a piece of seaweed on your porch. When it starts to shrivel then it will be dry, if the seaweed starts to swell, rain is on the way within 24 hours.

Pine cones are another good indicator for dry, or wet weather, if they stay open the weather will be dry, whereby if they start to close rain is imminent. The same goes for seeing cows lying down in the field, this means rain is on the way.

For sunshine look out for a red sky at night, also, If you see cows slapping their tails against a fence or post. A cat sneezing 3 times means a cold will run through the house. A dog hiding under the table means a storm is on the way.

For the herald of very heavy rain watch out for these signs, aching bones, painful corns, croaking frogs and dandelions that don’t open before 7am. Hailstorms approaching are foretold by birds flying low and ducks flapping their wings as they swim.

Many country people still follow these signs, which has obviously evolved from the need to make sure their harvests are good ones, and how to keep them that way.

Modern day scientists are looking into how the weather affects our moods, such as are we likely to act with more passion, or have a display of bad temper, or become irrational when the air pressure changes when a thunder storm is due. They believe the air pressure can reflect changes in blood pressure, hormones and breathing rates, and after the storm is over people feel more refreshed.

Watch for these signs in people you know and see if you can foretell a storm. Personally I get a really bad headache when one is on the way, and I have also noticed other people do too.

Scientists also have found that humid weather makes people moody, and reports of Migraines, asthma and heart attacks, and strokes increase dramatically, as does crime. Other studies show Hurricanes make people more mentally stimulated.

They also believe the amount and type of electrical activity in the atmosphere affects people, they think that the large number of negative ions in the air after a thunder storm, or when sitting at the seaside makes us feel calm.

Watch out for natures thousands of signs that are all around you all of the time, and take time to learn them.
